Three male juveniles were shot multiple times during a party about 10:30 last night (5.27.18) at the Oakwood Clubhouse, 10133 Matwood Oak Dr. in Lakeland, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).
Earle Farrell, PIO for the SCSO, told Lakeland Currents today (5.28.18) the unknown responsible suspect or suspects were occupying a white Chrysler 200.
Mr. Farrell said one juvenile was transported in stable condition to the Regional Medical Center. The other two juveniles were transported in critical condition to the same hospital.
From Mayor Wyatt Bunker:
“We are all shocked abut the shooting incident that occurred between non-Lakeland residents at a local HOA clubhouse. Apparently this group was able to use a resident’s name to rent the facility for a ‘Sweet Sixteen Party.’ A large group of teens predominately from Cordova and Germantown High Schools attended. Gang members, who were refused entry, returned to their vehicle and began shooting at guests. Sources at the scene reported three shot with two in critical condition.”
Mr. Farrell said more details will come in the full report.
