Detectives from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) are investigating the death of an adult male in the 9800 block of Justin Lake Cove in Lakeland. That block is part of the Canada Road Mobile Home Community and camp ground located in South Lakeland.
On Tuesday evening, December 18, deputies responded to a report of a fight at approximately 9:25 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, they were informed that a shot had been fired. Deputies discovered an unresponsive male lying on the ground.
Efforts to save the man’s life were immediately initiated by deputies, and Shelby County Fire personnel soon arrived. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced deceased at 9:45 p.m.
According to authorities, the individual or individuals responsible for the incident fled the scene before deputies arrived.
