Shadrach’s Coffee, a well-known Arkansas company, is looking to expand its presence in Tennessee by adding a location in Lakeland.
The coffee company received approval for the site layout at last week’s Municipal Planning Commission meeting. According to Commissioner Jim Atkinson, the first round of approvals included the building location, parking, and setbacks. “But they will need to come back to the MPC for architecture, landscaping, and lighting,” said Mr. Atkinson. The site in question is located at 7677 Highway 64, which is the property located east of LA Fitness (now called Esporta Fitness).
The coffee company has a different business model, with drive-thru service being their only focus. However, they would like some outdoor seating for a guest that would like to stay. According to the company’s website, they offer a full menu of items from a wide variety of coffee drinks and teas to smoothies and shakes. Lakeland Currents reached out to Shadrack’s management team and while they are excited about Lakeland as a future location, they could not provide an open target date as of yet.
Once open, Lakeland would lay claim to a wide variety of coffee options. Starbucks has two locations in Lakeland, Dunkin Donuts has one, Carrington Oaks Coffeehouse is building in the new Lakeland Town Square (Lakeland Commons) and Shadrach’s would offer the 5th coffee-based business.
