Poodle skirts and leather jackets were all the rage at Lakeland Senior Center’s Sock Hop Dinner, last Friday evening March 25, 2022, at the International Harvester Managerial Clubhouse. Dressed in 60’s apparel, local band ‘The Boomers’ performed a delightful show filled with popular 60’s tunes, like “At the Hop”, “Shake Rattle and Roll”, “It’s My Party”, etc. Guests were up on their feet, dancing to the familiar tunes that took them back to a time described by some as the “age of change,” with its carefree attitude, fun fashion and hairstyles, along with great music. The group closed the evening show with “Amazing Grace.”
The menu, catered by Victory BBQ, was barbecue with all the fixings. There were compliments throughout the evening about the tasty meal.
“It was a fantastic evening,” said Kim Odom, Lakeland Senior Center manager. “This was the first dinner we’ve been able to host since January 2020. It was good seeing familiar faces and several new faces that joined us. I think everyone was just happy to gather, and the entertainment and food was a bonus.”
