Once again the Crock-Pots will be steaming with parent-made soups and chili for the third annual “Cop Stop” at LES (Lakeland Elementary School) Jan. 24.
Meredith Bunker, coordinator for the PTA school event, said this year the Shelby County Fire Department (SCFD) will be invited to the 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. lunch along with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).
LES serves grades K-4 and students will make cards and banners to honor the first responders coming to the Cop Stop.
Parents from LES volunteer to make, bring and serve the meal while the guests have lunch with the students.
Cop Stop was started in 2014 by a family in Germantown wanting to serve community law enforcement officers and build relationships with them, especially among children. In succeeding years, it grew to other communities including Lakeland.
