The last day of school (5.24.19) at LES (Lakeland Elementary School) was a ROARing celebration.
Sharonda Rose, assistant LES principal, said the morning End-of-the-Year ROAR Celebration was a school-wide event.
ROAR stands for Being Respectful, Outstanding, Accountable and Responsible. Students recite this every morning over the intercom and receive tickets each day for displays of these behaviors, said Ms. Rose.
“Our Lakeland cheerleaders greeted classes and did a special performance. We started the celebration by awarding prizes to students for being present and on-time all school year.”
Ms. Rose said, “We had our final Lion’s Loot drawing, which gave many students the opportunity to receive prizes such as ROAR T-shirts and free ice cream from Sonic. Many students played games and won LES wristbands. This event included a number of fun activities for our students and teachers.
“We ended the celebration with a school-wide dance. Each student received a Lakeland Lions water bottle to take home. This event was organized by our RTI2B team members.”
Response to Instruction and Intervention-Behavior (RTI²-B) is a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) that offers a powerful, evidence-based approach for meeting the behavioral and social needs of students in Tennessee schools,” according to Ms. Rose. https://tennesseebsp.org/about-us/what-is-rti2-b/
“We call this our “ROAR” program at LES.”
