In an public notice on Friday, March 5, City officials announced that Memphis Arlington from Maple Forest Dr. to Evergreen will be closed to through traffic on March 16, 2021 from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm. The closure is for a culvert replacement. Highway 70 is the alternate detour route.
Originally scheduled for March 9th, the date was changed to the 16th since there would be less school traffic due to Spring Break. Click HERE for a map of the closure. The area in red is where there will be no traffic flow.
In other road closure news, Emily Harrell, City Engineer, gave an update on the Seed Tick closure. The closure, located between Memphis Arlington and Highway 70, began as a short 10 day closure, but has evolved into a months long event.
Ms. Harrell says that a telecommunications company named Windstream is to blame for the delay. She stated, “They have a cable on an MLGW utility pole which is in the road. We are waiting to have Windstream move their line so MLGW can move the pole. I was told today the utility work should be complete in the next two weeks. I am hopeful the work is completed as stated so we can get the road open.”
