City of Lakeland Parks and Recreation Director Kevin Rooney has submitted his letter of resignation with the City of Lakeland. Kevin’s last day with the city will be Feb. 17th.
“Kevin has effectively led the Parks and Recreation Department growing participation levels each year with limited resources” said City Manager Shane Horn. “Kevin has aggressively pursued and captured grant dollars to further expand Parks and Recreation opportunities that Lakeland residents will enjoy for many years to come. We thank Kevin for his leadership and dedication of service to Lakeland and wish him the very best moving forward.”
“I have enjoyed my time with the City of Lakeland over the past three years and watching the Parks Department grow. I appreciate all the hard work that staff and volunteers have put forth to help make the Parks Department as successful as it is. I wish everyone the best of luck and thank you for my time as Parks and Recreation Director” said Mr. Rooney.
There is another staff position open at Lakeland City Hall. Forrest Owens, planning director, announced his resignation Jan. 15th with his last day Feb. 14th.
