The Lakeland School System announced a kickoff celebration for the brand new athletic complex on the east side of the Lakeland Preparatory School campus. The event will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 9am.
The facility will serve the students of Lakeland School System for a variety of sports as well as The City of Lakeland, Tennessee Parks and Recreation Department. Sports that will be played at the facility will include anything from youth football to high school lacrosse.
The main athletic facilities on the Lakeland Prep campus will include traditional outdoor venues such as football, baseball, softball, and soccer.
The new five-field annex was made possible thanks to a partnership between the City and LSS.
Dr. Ted Horrell, Superintendent of Lakeland School System, told Lakeland Currents, “We’re so grateful for the City of Lakeland’s support for this project which we believe will fill major needs in both our athletic programs and theirs. At the end of the day, we share a goal to increase opportunities for kids to develop and grow, and these new facilities will do just that.”
The public is invited to spend the morning at the facility. Kids are encouraged to attend and to bring balls to test out the fields.
