Lakeland Mayor Mike Cunningham joined mayors from other area municipalities today (3.20.2) in signing a Civil Emergency Proclamation and a Declaration of State of Emergency.
The documents for Lakeland require all restaurants to close dining rooms to the public and perform only take-out or delivery services. Language in the press release from Lakeland City Manager Shane Horn also says bars, gyms and movie theaters are to close as of midnight tonight.
This will continue until March 27th and may be extended by Executive Order for additional seven-day increments as permitted by law.
The press release continued, “We encourage residents to support local businesses through take-out or delivery services during this time period.”
The Shelby County Health Department announced today there are 30 cases of COVID-19 in Shelby with 228 in Tennessee.
