The Lakeland Prep High School community is coming together once again to celebrate the life, courage, and legacy of Brody Townsend during the 2nd Annual Brave Like Brody Baseball Classic. The game will be played Friday, April 11, at 5pm.
This heartfelt event, which will be played at Lakeland Prep High School, features a showdown between the LPS Lions and Rossville Christian Academy. But the game is about more than just baseball—it’s a tribute to the strength and determination of a young man who left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. Brody, a former Lakeland Elementary student, was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, in December 2021. Despite a valiant almost 7-month battle, Brody passed away in July 2022.
Brody motto, “Toughen Up,” continues to inspire students, families, and fans alike to face life’s challenges with grit and grace. Through this annual event, the LPS Baseball Family aims to keep Brody’s spirit alive, reminding the community what it truly means to be “Brave Like Brody.”
All proceeds from the game will go toward the Brave Like Brody Endowment through The University of Tennessee Foundation, helping to support and uplift others in Brody’s name.
Fans are encouraged to fill the stands in blue, cheer on the Lions, and take part in an evening that blends community, competition, and compassion. Don’t miss this chance to support a great cause and honor a young hero whose legacy continues to shine.
