Paving The Way To The High School

Once again, the Lakeland Education Foundation (LEF) is offering you a chance to help “pave the way” for Lakeland’s first High School.  Just like the bricks that were available to purchase for then Lakeland Middle Preparatory School, they are now available for the high school portion of Lakeland Preparatory School.

The bricks will be installed at the entrance of the new high school, currently under construction and slated to open with a freshman class in August 2022.  The bricks are a commemorative way to leave your mark for all who enter the building to see…students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The personalized, engraved pavers would make a unique gift:

  • Recognize your children’s accomplishments and/or graduation, especially current eighth graders who will be the first graduating class of LPS;
  • Memorialize a loved one, thank a teacher, or honor our military;
  • Promote your business and display your support of the local school system.

You can find out all the details HERE and place your order online.  Amy Foster, President of the LEF told Lakeland Currents, “We are very excited and the location of these bricks will be right at the main entrance, so they’ll be very visible.  You can currently visit the flagpole at the middle school entrance to view the bricks previously purchased when the middle school opened.”

The LEF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises money to fund grants for teachers.  Money raised has been used to purchase 3D printers, flexible seating, musical instruments, a greenhouse and weather station, as well as interactive math and reading supplements.  You can find more information about the group HERE.

Ursula Roman, Secretary of the LEF said they are encouraging everyone to make their purchase soon.  There is no set deadline, but when they’re gone, they’re gone. Mrs. Roman said, “This is an excellent opportunity  for the community to leave their mark on the much anticipated high school, while supporting teacher grants throughout the Lakeland School System.”
