UPDATED: The Yard Sale Has Been Postponed Until October 5th
Lakeland will hold its 10th Annual Fall Yard Sale this Saturday, September 28, 2024. The popular event, which has become a twice-yearly tradition, will once again allow residents to sell their household goods and meet neighbors in a city-wide yard sale. Those interested in participating must contact Wesley Wright at wwright@lakelandtn.org by Wednesday to have their home added to the official list.
Shoppers and participants can access an online map of homes taking part in the sale through the Yard Sale Treasure Map website:
The event will be promoted through various platforms, including Craigslist, the Lakeland TN Facebook group, and the “I Love Lakeland” Facebook page. Participants are encouraged to share the event in any additional yard sale groups they are part of.
For sellers, it’s important to note that the list of participants is now closed, but anyone who is registered can still share their address on social media to attract more buyers. In line with tradition, the sale will take place rain or shine, and past events have seen strong participation even during inclement weather.
Registered sellers are responsible for setting up and taking down their signage, with all signs required to be removed by Monday. Some residents may begin setting up on Friday morning, but the official sale runs through Saturday, with most sellers wrapping up by 2 p.m. It’s recommended that sellers have their setup complete by 7 a.m. on Saturday to make the most of the busiest shopping hours, typically between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Previous yard sales have been highly successful, with many participants choosing to team up with neighbors for combined sales or using bold signage to draw in more foot traffic. Whether you’re looking to sell, declutter, or hunt for bargains, the Lakeland Fall Yard Sale offers a great community event to get involved in.
This year’s sale also coincides with Lakeland’s Community Cleanup Day, giving residents an additional opportunity to purge unwanted items from their homes.
