The LMPS Beginning Orchestra and Concert Orchestra will perform a variety of music that will transport the audience to other times and places, far away from the rainy winter chill of Lakeland, according to Paula Bert Turner, Orchestra director.
The LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) Gymnasium will be the setting for Once Upon a Time, a Mid-Winter Orchestra Showcase at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (2.27.20).
Mrs. Turner said the Concert Orchestra will preview the pieces they will be performing for regional adjudication at the WTSBOA (West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association) Concert Festival March 11th at Kate Bond Middle School. The Beginning Orchestra will be showing the progress they have made during the third quarter of school.
“It is a tradition at the mid-winter concert for the audience to write Applause-a-Grams, filled with words of congratulations and encouragement to the students in the orchestra,” said Mrs. Turner.
A suggested donation of $5 per person will benefit a newly formed Summer Music Camp Scholarship Fund sponsored by the Orchestra Boosters.
