The MPC/DRC meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday (12.20.18) has been cancelled, according to Shane Horn, Lakeland city manager.
The next meeting of the Municipal Planning Commission/Design Review Commission will be Jan. 17. All serving members of the volunteer board were notified last week they are no longer on the MPC/DRC.
In a letter to MPC/DRC members, newly elected Mayor Mike Cunningham said, “I am committed to leading the City of Lakeland Municipal Planning Commission, as such, effective immediately, I will be compiling a new MPC to partner with me moving forward as permitted under Lakeland MPC By-Laws and Tennessee Code 13-4-101.”
The sitting Mayor has the authority to select members of this Board. Mike Cunningham was elected Mayor Nov. 6th, replacing Wyatt Bunker who served until Dec. 6th.
Those removed from the Commission include Sal Feraci, chairman; Jim Willis, vice chair; Jerry James, secretary; Maurice Denbow, Kevin Hammeran and Carl Helton. Commissioner Wesley Wright was the BOC (Board of Commissioners) liaison.
