Dr. Ted Horrell, superintendent for the Lakeland School System (LSS), tonight (8.29.18) provided guidance for those attending an LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) home football game next week.
The Lions play their first game on home turf in just a week, at 6 p.m. Sept. 6 against Houston 2 and Dr. Horrell wants attendees to understand the limitations of the new football field.
Within guidelines posted to social media, he said LSS is excited to host the community and visitors to the newly constructed field and shared some details about the experience.
His first reminder is that it is a middle school football field and not a high school stadium found in other municipalities.
There are no grandstands but a limited number of regular bleacher seats available. He encouraged those coming to the game to bring their fold-up chair or a blanket.
In addition, Dr. Horrell said lights are shining on the field tonight. “We wanted to let the community know that the new lights at the LMPS football field will be on overnight tonight in order to “burn-in” or establish the new lights prior to their regular use. This will be a one-time occurrence, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding.”
The second Lions game of the season is tomorrow night (8.30.18) against Bon Lin at Bartlett High School. JV will begin at 6 p.m. and Varsity afterwards around 7:30 p.m.
