Deputies fired shots at  Mr. Giles only striking the stolen vehicle he was driving. Mr. Giles led deputies on a chase that ended after he struck a telephone pole at the intersection of Yale Road and Brother Boulevard in Bartlett.   Deputies arrested  Mr. Giles after a short foot pursuit.

Mr. Giles was transported to the hospital for minor injuries sustained during the accident. There were no injuries to deputies involved in this incident. The two deputies that fired their weapons have been placed on administrative leave.

Some Lakeland residents believe the suspect may also be responsible for breaking into cars this week in Lakeland neighborhoods and stealing a variety of items.  However, there is no confirmation from Capt. Anthony Buckner with the SCSO.
