Meet and Greet attracts 100 to mingle with Lakeland candidates

Residents enter The Refuge Church for the Meet and Greet

Ten men and women seeking office in Lakeland came to the Meet and Greet tonight (9.13.18) at the Refuge Church in Lakeland to speak with the voters.

It was sponsored by the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and Lakeland Currents to allow residents to meet and talk with candidates about their platforms and visions for the City.  Light refreshments were served.

About 100 people attended the 1½ -hour informal gathering.

The election to select a mayor, two commissioners and three school board members is Nov. 6.  Early voting is Oct. 17th – Nov. 1st.

Brittney Buchanan, executive director for the Chamber, said the event was planned because of the importance of the election.  She said it was an opportunity for the community to meet the candidates and understand their platforms and goals for their respective positions.
