The highly anticipated Margaritas Restaurant in Lakeland Town Square is finally set to open its doors in just two weeks. The Lakeland restaurant is located between Highway 70 and Memphis-Arlington Road near Seed Tick Road. An employee confirmed the news to Lakeland Currents on August 19, 2024, while working on the final touches to the interior. Originally announced in 2022, the restaurant build out has been slow, but it finally seems ready to welcome customers.
Margaritas is a well-known brand in West Tennessee, boasting eight locations across the region. Jose Flores, a Lakeland resident and owner of the Margaritas chain, told Lakeland Currents in October of 2022 he was excited to expand his presence in the area with this new location. The closest existing Margaritas restaurant to Lakeland is located at the intersection of Germantown Road and Dexter Road.
Last week, a representative from Margaritas applied for a beer license at Lakeland City Hall, a key step in the final preparations for a restaurant’s grand opening.
In a twist that’s sure to please local diners, the Lakeland location will feature many new menu items. “This location will have new menu items and some new drinks,” said a Margaritas employee on-site, highlighting the restaurant’s unique offerings compared to its sister locations.
Margaritas will be the sixth business to open in Lakeland Town Square, with more openings expected in phase two of the mixed-used development which is also nearing completion.
