After a week long snow event that blanketed our area in snow and closed schools for the week, Lakeland School System said in an email earlier today that the buildings will remain closed tomorrow, Monday, February 22, but students will move to remote learning.
In addition to the potential of icy roads remaining in residential areas, there is a water pressure issue and boil water directive from MLGW that raises some concern.
The following message was sent out to parents:
“Due to both uncertainty about the conditions for car and bus travel tomorrow morning as well as the need for a day to make sure plumbing and water pressure are appropriate for students, Lakeland School System schools will be closed on Monday, February 22nd, and that day will be a Remote Learning Day for students. All extracurricular activities and before/after care are also canceled that day.
Parents will receive additional information from their child’s teachers and/or administrators, but please know that we will make allowances for any technology issues that may interfere with completing assignments. Thanks for your understanding. We’re looking forward to having students back in the buildings on Tuesday!”
