Dr. Ted Horrell, LSS (Lakeland School System) superintendent, recognized new Board secretary and HR (Human Resources) director and recorder — Jessica Millspaugh. She has joined the LSS staff after working with the City of Lakeland as financial director and recorder.

He shared that the LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) Varsity volleyball team won the first regional tournament and the JV team placed second in the district tournament.

The newly hired armed security guard, Robert Gipson, started his duties at LES (Lakeland Elementary School) today.

Dr. Horrell said there were no findings in the audit report for both Lakeland schools.  The full school system audit will be available at the November LSB meeting.

The last regular home football game will be played at LMPS fields Thursday (10.18.18), said Dr. Horrell. He noted that, as suggested when the athletic fields were built, the City of Lakeland is using the fields for some Parks and Recreation Department games.

LES was named a National Blue Ribbon School and work continues on the classroom and office additions to the school.

He praised Angie Delloso who was named the West Tennessee Grand Division Supervisor of the Year.  She is director of academics and exceptional learners, and effectively operates as the deputy superintendent for LSS,” said Dr. Horrell.

Among items on the agenda, number seven, the legislative agenda, was carried to December.  Number ten was to review section six of the policy manual.

All other agenda items were approved.
