LPS Media Lab Takes Top Prize at State TSA Conference

Six students from Lakeland Preparatory School’s Audio & Visual Production program recently captured 1st place in a highly competitive “On Demand Video” event.

A talented team of six students from Lakeland Preparatory School’s Audio & Visual Production program, known as the LPS Media Lab, recently captured 1st place in the highly competitive “On Demand Video” event at the Tennessee State TSA Conference.

The challenge? Teams had just 36 hours to conceptualize, write, film, and edit a one-minute video based on surprise criteria revealed at the start of the event. This year’s theme required teams to create a parody that featured sunglasses, candy, and a cellphone, and to include the line of dialogue, “What was that?”

Despite the demanding time constraints and creative curveballs, the LPS Media Lab team completed the entire project in just 24 hours—a full 12 hours ahead of deadline.

Their victory is a powerful reflection of not only their technical ability and comedic instincts but also their teamwork, focus, and professionalism under pressure. From brainstorming and scriptwriting to directing and post-production, the students displayed a balance of creativity and execution that exceeded expectations.

“These students worked as a unified and focused team,” said Jeremy Luno, M.S., the group’s instructor and a secondary educator in Audio and Visual Production at Lakeland Prep. “Their success highlights what’s possible when collaboration, talent, and drive come together with purpose.”

Luno added, “Ask any of my students—I tell them often, ‘Effort leads to quality.’ This team definitively proved how true that statement is.”

Their performance sets a high bar not only for future competitions, but for what young creatives can accomplish when they’re given the tools—and the trust—to lead.
