The LPS Bands, under the direction of Mr. Brent Hopper, will present their Festival Spotlight Concert on Monday evening, February 28 at 7:00 pm in the LPS Gymnasium. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5.00 per person to benefit the ongoing growth of the band program. Both the Beginning Band (first year students) and the Concert Band (students with 2+ years of experience) will perform.
The beginning band will showcase their progress through the third quarter with a thrilling performance of Flying High by William Owens and Ayre and Dance by Bruce Pearson. The concert band will give a thrilling performance of Terminal Velocity by Tyler Grant, a piece about conquering fears and breaking a world record. They will conclude the performance with a performance of Courage by Larry Clark, an energetic and fun march.
The Concert Band heads to the WTSBOA Concert Festival at West Collierville Middle School on March 8th for annual regional adjudication in stage performance and sight-reading, so next Monday’s concert is serving as a run-through of the music they are preparing for the judges. Audience members will be provided with Applause-a-Grams for sending shout-outs and best wishes to all of the band members to congratulate them for their current accomplishments.
