Twenty-four Spanish students from LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2018 National Spanish Examinations this spring.
Kandice Lee, Spanish I Honors teacher, said the 24 students earned a total of 19 recognitions.
The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, national director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 150,000 students participating in 2018.”
LMPS opened to grades 5-8 in August 2017. Lakeland Elementary School serves grades K-4. Lakeland students go to Arlington High School (AHS) through an interlocal agreement until a high school can be built in Lakeland.
