Shelby County first responders have been invited to the first-ever Cop Stop at LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) next Wednesday (3.28.18) in the school cafeteria.
Meredith Bunker is coordinating the event for the PTO and said the menu will include hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, potato salad, chips and dessert.
“I think this is a great way for the Middle School to show its support to all the first responders. It’s a great way to give back. Everything has been donated by our wonderful parents.”
She said invitations have been sent to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Arlington as well as the Shelby County Fire Department located in Lakeland.
It is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and LMPS parents are invited to come eat with the students and first responders.
Cop Stop was started in 2014 by a family in Germantown wanting to serve community law enforcement officers and build relationships with them, especially among children. In succeeding years, it grew to other communities including Lakeland.
LES (Lakeland Elementary School) hosted its third annual Cop Stop in January, also coordinated by Mrs. Bunker.
LMPS serves grades 5-8 and opened to students in August 2017. LES serves grades K-4. Students attend Arlington High School through an interlocal agreement until a high school is built in Lakeland.
