There was a need, and the LMPS PTO met it.
Cindy Davis, president of the Lakeland Middle Preparatory School (LMPS) PTO, said Matt Adler, LMPS principal, mentioned to her that his staff could use emergency bags for classrooms.
“Kelley Hale, our vice president of programs, helped us secure prepackaged bags filled with items that might be needed in an emergency,” said Mrs. Davis.
“Each of the 59 classrooms and common spaces in the school now has a bag delivered to the school Tuesday (2.19.18).” It is a lightweight backpack easy to carry with water, flashlights, communication and hygiene items and a first aid kit, said Mrs. Davis. The bags were delivered by Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Hale and Stacey Cartwright, PTO hospitality chairperson.
“Teachers will be fully equipped to handle injuries both major and minor until professional medical assistance arrives. We are hoping that these bags will never be used and will sit on the shelf, but if a need ever arises, we know the teachers and staff will be better prepared.
“One of the teachers remarked that these bags were a great quality and equipped for almost any type of emergency,” said Mrs. Davis.
