Parents, family and friends gathered in the LMPS Gymnasium last night (10.24.19) for a Fall Music Showcase of Beginning and Concert Orchestras.
Paula Bert Turner, director, said the evening was to preview of the 2019-20 performance season for both Lakeland Middle Preparatory School (LMPS) orchestras.
Mrs. Turner said it is hard to believe it is the fall time of the year. “This is just a short concert this evening to showcase what we’ve learned in nine weeks.”

The Beginning Orchestra performed “The Twelve Weeks of Strings Class,” a traditional medley of tunes from Book One to show progression from Day One. Narrators were 7th graders Amal Ahmed and Sofia Rivera.
The highlight of the Concert Orchestra’s performance was an arrangement of Vivaldi’s concerto “Autumn” featuring a quartet of soloists: Marian Jamora, Sarah Wang, Grace Choi and Ariela Deleon. The Concert Orchestra also performed “Sahara Crossing” and “Yee Haw!”
During intermission, Keri Snyder, vice president of the LMPS Orchestra Booster Club, announced upcoming concert dates for the Orchestras as well as student prizes from a recent fundraiser:
