LMPS Lady Lions soccer matched up against undefeated league powerhouse Collierville West yesterday (9.13.18) in Collierville. Though the Lions (3-4) went down in defeat for the second time to West this season, they showed significant improvement, losing 4-2 compared to 6-2 at their previous meeting.

The Lions got off to a slow start, going into halftime down 3-0.  In the second half, Olivia Hicks was moved from defensive midfield to striker.  Hicks got an assist on the Lions’ first goal, scored by Saylor Coleman. Hicks then scored one of her own on a high-arcing shot taken from just outside the box.

Added offensive pressure and outstanding defense by numerous players, including defender Julia Hardee and goalkeeper Marian Jamora, kept the game close during the second half.

Assistant Coach Stephen Shearer said of his team “Our girls showed poise by not giving up and gave Collierville their toughest game of the season.”  The Lady Lions’ next game is Thursday (9.20.18) at 4:30 p.m. vs Collierville Middle at Progress Park in Collierville.
