It was Superior times two for the LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) Honor Choir at the WTVMEA Choral Festival today (4.4.19) at Colonial Middle School in Memphis.
Tonya Miller, LMPS choir director, said the 22-member Choir received Superior ratings for performance and sight reading.
“What a great day,” said Mrs. Miller. “We competed today at the West Tennessee Vocal Music Educators Association Choral Festival (WTVMEA).”
She said the overall score was 1+. “The descriptors for adjudication are: tone, intonation, diction rhythmic accuracy, interpretation, overall musical effect, stage presence and choice of music.
“We performed Sleep, My Little Sea by Josu Elberdin and Gratias Agimus Tibi by Lon Berry.We also scored a 1+ in sight reading.”
Bethany Christy, LMPS librarian, went with the students as a chaperone. “She is a great friend to the Choir. Our accompanists was Leiza Collins.”
