LMPS Choir students head to Choral Festival this month

Eleven students from the LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) 6th Grade Choir have been selected to participate Feb. 15th in the WTGMEA Choral Festival.

Tonya Miller, LMPS choir director, said the students were chosen for ability, academic standing and excellent behavior.

The Festival at Millington Baptist Church is sponsored by the West Tennessee General Music Education Association (WTGMEA) and starts at 9 a.m.

“We have met a few times after school to rehearse, but for the most part the students are working on this repertoire individually at home,” said Mrs. Miller.

Of the event, Mrs. Miller said, “We stay all day and work on our pieces with over 200 other local young singers. Our concert is at 5 p.m. that same day.  Family and friends are invited to attend.

“It is an honor to be a part of this Festival and I am looking forward to leading the warm ups for the group that morning.”
