For the second consecutive year, the LMPS fifth grade Mane Melody Singers will perform, by invitation, at the Peabody Hotel in Downtown Memphis Thursday (11.29.18).
The 54-member choir will start at 11 a.m. by the Christmas tree in the Hotel Grand Lobby, according to Tonya Miller, LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) choir director.
Mrs. Miller said following the performance, the students will be served refreshments provided by the Hotel. They will then stop for lunch and go to the Elmcroft Assisted Living Home in Bartlett to sing and provide gift bags for the residents.
The fifth grade class is making and filling the gift bags with donated items, said Mrs. Miller.
The students performed holiday songs at the Peabody last year, having been invited by the Peabody Special Events Coordinator Tommie Pardue. The invitation was extended again for 2018.
The middle school which serves grades 5-8 opened in August 2017.
