The LMPS Competitive Cheer Squad has returned from the 2020 UCA (Universal Cheerleaders Association) national competition in Orlando with a Superior Award.
They placed 10th out of 17 teams in the National High School Cheerleading Championship junior high non-tumbling division Saturday (2.8.20) but did not make the finals.
This was the school’s first cheer team to perform at a national competition.
The LMPS Cheerleaders were joined by the Lakeland Rec Cheerleaders Tuesday (2.4.20) in the LMPS Gym as the middle school squad showcased their national routine.
The 15 girls who made the trip were applauded by fellow students Wednesday as they left by limousine to prepare for travel to nationals.
