The 80-members of the LMPS Beginning and Concert Bands will participate in the first Spring Band Workshop Wednesday (4.10.19) through the Mentorship Program of the Conn Selmer Institute.
Anneliese Land, LMPS band director, said she applied for the Program last summer while attending the Institute at Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN.
“It is a wonderful conference hosted by the very best music educators from across the country. There, I had the opportunity to apply for the Conn Selmer Mentorship Program on behalf of the LMPS Band.
“Conn Selmer clinicians who participate in the program accept the applications, and hand select one band program out of the entire applicant pool. The selected program not only receives support throughout the year from the clinician, but has the opportunity to work with the clinician in person through an event sponsored by Conn Selmer.
“We are fortunate enough to have received this honor and look forward to working with Erin Cole this Wednesday for our Spring Band Workshop. All 80 of our Beginning Band and Concert Band students will work with the clinician throughout the day on Wednesday in preparation for our spring concert on May 7.”
Mrs. Land said the clinician travels across the country working with regional and state honor bands as well as select middle and high school bands.
