After a successful regular season playing in the MLF (Municipal Football League), two different Lakeland Lion teams advanced to the championship game held on November 8th at the Arlington High School football field.
The Lakeland Mighty Mites (7-8 year olds) played a tough game against Bartlett. A touchdown pass by QB Quinn Wright was called back after the officials determined there were too many men in the backfield. That TD would have put Lakeland up 19-13. Jackson Buckalew and Caden Starned both carried the ball and scored touchdowns but Lakeland fell short losing 20-12.
The Lakeland Lions 11-12 year old team also lost in the championship game to Bartlett 26-7. Even with tonight’s loss, it’s an awesome accomplishment for our Lakeland Lions to have made the championship game as a first year team. Both team were recognized with runner-up trophies.
