Despite a hard-fought 40-34 loss to Memphis East last Friday, the Lions are celebrating standout performances from two of their key players. Quarterback Brett Godwin and wide receiver Connor Jones have been named Co-Athletes of the Week, showcasing their tremendous effort on the field.
Godwin delivered an impressive performance, completing 28 of 45 passes for 313 yards and throwing for 3 touchdowns. In addition to his aerial attack, Godwin also proved dangerous on the ground, rushing for 77 yards and scoring 2 more touchdowns.
Jones, Godwin’s primary target throughout the night, was equally stellar. The wide receiver hauled in 16 receptions for 183 yards, contributing 2 touchdowns to the Lions’ total.
While the Lions ultimately came up short, the exceptional play from Godwin and Jones kept them in contention until the final whistle. Both athletes demonstrated leadership and skill, earning them this week’s top athletic honor.
