It was the “Real McCoy” as Lakeland Elementary School (LES) PTA members, spouses and guests filled Colonial Country Club for the 1920s Gala Friday night (3.31.17).
Listening to songs like “Puttin’ on the Ritz” and “Making Whoopee,” attendees were dressed for the era as gangsters and flappers.
It was the ninth annual auction to raise funds for projects at LES and was chaired by Krista Pearce. Among Board of Managers members helping were Cat Wright, Monica Pitts, Brittney Buchanan, Laura Harrison, Rebecca Floyd, Missy Wright, Jaime Hathcock and Belinda Henry.
Helping at the registration table were Amber Hitchcock, Erica Vandiver and Jennifer Reynolds.
Among the 250 attending were City officials, School Board and Chamber members as well as other notables from the community.
Before the doors even opened, twenty-six sponsors contributed $13K+ for the fundraiser, according to Mrs. Pearce. Last year the event raised $35K.
Total raised at the 2017 Auction was $37,000, according to Mrs. Pearce. Her comments:
“We are so excited to announce that the LES PTA raised $37,000 at the PTA Auction this past Friday night! Thank you so much to all of the room parents who worked so hard collecting donations, businesses who donated items, individuals who donated items, our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who came out and spent their hard-earned money and enjoyed a fantastic evening! This event was such a huge success because of your support and the awesome Lakeland community!”
