The LES (Lakeland Elementary School) PTA moms prepared gallons of soup and all the trimmings to feed firemen and deputies at the third annual Cop Stop yesterday (1.24.18) in the school cafeteria.
The third annual lunch, coordinated by Meredith Bunker, treated the Shelby County Fire Department (SCFD) and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). Both agencies serve Lakeland.
There was taco soup, jambalaya, turkey pumpkin chili and white chicken chili among the offerings. And desserts too.
The K-4th grade students made posters and cards honoring the men and women who serve their community.
Cop Stop was started in 2014 by a family in Germantown wanting to serve community law enforcement officers and build relationships with them, especially among children. In succeeding years, it grew to other communities including Lakeland.
