The Lakeland recreational soccer program is gearing up for its fall season, running from August through November, providing a fun and educational youth soccer league for the local community. This popular program offers children a chance to learn soccer in a positive and productive environment, with volunteer coaches receiving continuous training and following a curriculum overseen by the league director.
The Tennessee Soccer Academy runs the Lakeland league and according to league officials the typical season features eight games and weekly training sessions, supplemented by additional skills clinics and development opportunities. There are teams for ages 4 and under all the way to 15 and under. Practices are mainly held on Mondays and Tuesdays, while games for players aged 8 and under are scheduled primarily on Saturdays. Teams for players aged 10 and older may have games during the week or on Saturdays.
Unique to the Lakeland program, league tables or records are not kept, emphasizing enjoyment and personal growth over competition. This approach aims to foster a love for soccer among players of all levels. By maintaining this mission, the program hopes to inspire even more young athletes to develop a lifelong passion for the game.
All soccer programs provided by TSA/Lakeland will be held at the sports facilities in Lakeland. Lakeland Prep Athletic Annex Fields are conveniently located at 9651 Old Brownsville Rd, right behind Lakeland Prep, and the Lakeland Athletic Complex is just down the street at 9661 Memphis-Arlington Rd.
