The community is invited to watch as the last wall of the former Factory Outlet Mall is taken down at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (3.1.18) with the City Mayor presiding.
Yehuda Netanel, developer for The Lake District (TLD) urban village which is to replace the mall, today said Lakeland Mayor Wyatt Bunker will preside as the final wall on the property comes down. The demolition started in October 2017.
“The community is invited to watch as the last wall comes down,” said Mr. Netanel who will also make comments to the crowd and media.
He expects to be at the BOC (Board of Commissioners) meeting that night (5:30 p.m. at City Hall) to give a progress report on his project.
The upscale 160+acre mixed-use community is to surround a 10-acre lake and waterways and is to be a walkable community. It is to include retail, restaurant, residential and hotel space. Ground-breaking is to start this calendar year.
TLD will be at the site of the former mall, located at I-40 and Canada Road in Lakeland.
