The city of Lakeland will be hosting its annual Fall Yard Sale on September 28th, 2024, marking the event’s tenth consecutive year. Following positive feedback from the community, the event will proceed much like its Spring counterpart, with an estimated 100 to 200 homes expected to participate.
Residents interested in joining the sale can easily have their addresses listed via an app that has been a staple for several years. To register, simply email Wesley Wright at wwright@lakelandtn.org.
While weather is always unpredictable, late September typically brings more comfortable temperatures, ideal for a day of outdoor shopping. As in previous years, there is no rain check date. Despite encountering rain on two past occasions, the sale has continued as planned, with many participants braving the elements.
Those registered to sell items are reminded to set up their signage early and ensure it is removed by Monday. Although the official sale day is Saturday, many residents begin selling on Friday morning and continue through Saturday morning. Most participants close their sales by 2 p.m. on Saturday. To attract the maximum number of buyers, it’s recommended that sellers set up by 7 a.m., as the majority of shoppers tend to arrive by 10 a.m.
Past participants have reported success, with some teaming up with neighbors for combined sales and using eye-catching signage to draw in more traffic. The event is not just a chance to clear out unwanted items; it’s also an opportunity to score great deals from local sellers.
Additionally, this year’s Fall Yard Sale coincides with Lakeland’s Community Cleanup Day, offering residents a perfect opportunity to sell and purge unwanted items in one weekend.
