The City of Lakeland is gearing up for another exciting season of youth basketball, with registration now open.
The program is open to boys and girls ages 5 through 12, with both competitive and recreational leagues available. Recreational basketball registration will close October 19th, 2025, while competitive league registration will remain open until October 26th, 2025. Parents can register their children online at lakelandtn.gov/registration.
Season Details
- Games: Recreational and competitive games for 6U–12U are expected to take place primarily on Saturdays, with some weeknight games mixed in.
- Practices: Scheduled at the discretion of each coach. Recreational teams will begin practice the week of November 10th, while competitive teams will be announced at a later date.
- Skills Evaluation (Recreation 6U–12U): November 3rd–4th, 5:30–7:30 PM at Lakeland Elementary.
- Coaches Meeting (Recreation): Tentatively scheduled for November 6th at 6 PM at I.H. Clubhouse.
- Games Begin: December 7th, 2025.
- Playoffs & End of Season: Dates TBD.
Team Selection Process
Each team will begin with one head coach’s child and one assistant coach’s child. Remaining players will be assigned through registration software, first based on evaluation scores (if available), followed by players without scores.
