The Lakeland Lady Lions Volleyball team had a highly anticipated showdown this evening (9.5.18) with Arlington Middle School. In two thrilling games (A and B teams) in front of a large and loud home crowd, the Lady Lions defeated Arlington twice.
“The improvement from this team in one year is amazing,” said Mayor Wyatt Bunker who was in attendance. “It’s exciting to see. You can feel the energy in here right now.” LMPS opened in 2017 and this is just their second year of playing volleyball.
In the first game (B team) Lakeland won a tie-break set 15-10 after Chloe Wright put Lakeland up with 6 straight points. Julia Wagner served for the final point to secure the victory.
In the second game (A team) the Lady Lions came roaring back from being down 8 points to secure a 26-24 victory. Bailey Hall had a very good game for the Lions varsity team and Campbell Funk had a critical hit to seal the victory in Lakeland Light blue. “I was very determined to bring home another win for the Lady Lions volleyball team,” said Campbell, “and I loved hearing the roar of the crowd!”
The Lakeland Lady Lions improve to 5-1 on the season.
