Both Lakeland schools were recognized as Silver Level Model of Demonstration Schools for RTI2B at this year’s Partners in Education (PIE) Conference in Nashville. The recognition for LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) and LES (Lakeland Elementary School) was yesterday (1.28.20).
Dr. Ted Horrell, Lakeland School System superintendent, said, “Silver level is the highest level for which we were eligible based on our number of years participating in the program. LMPS and LES both won this award last year.”
In Tennessee schools, Response to Instruction and Intervention for Behavior (RTI2B) is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and interventions based on student need. Progress is monitored frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals. Child response data is supplied for educational decisions.
Nikole Hamlett is the LMPS guidance counselor who accepted the award on behalf of LMPS. LES guidance counselor Leslie Webb accepted the LES award on behalf of LES.

They are attending the conference through tomorrow with Assistant Superintendent Angie Delloso, Special Education Facilitator Elizabeth Griffith, LMPS Principal Matt Adler, LES Teacher Arzu Booth, LMPS Interventionist Rebecca Craig, LMPS Special Education Teacher Allie Barnett, LMPS Instructional Facilitator Tami Boeve, LMPS Special Education Teacher Leigh Isom, LES Assistant Principal Shelly White, LES Pre-School Teacher Lindsey Townsend, LSS School Psychologist Beth Autry, LSS Guidance/Student Services Facilitator Kim Pickens and LES Teacher Christin Muston.
