According to D.J. Paganoni, Communications Manager for Lakeland School System, Lakeland schools and the District Office will remain closed for the remainder of the week, Thursday, January 29, and Friday, January 30, due to continued hazardous conditions across campuses and surrounding back roads, along with forecasted freezing temperatures.
The closure includes Lakeland Elementary School (LES), Lakeland Preparatory School (LPS), and the District Office. In addition, all LES and LPS extracurricular activities are cancelled through the weekend as district staff work to ensure campuses are safe for students and staff to return.
District officials encourage families to remain cautious during the ongoing winter weather and prioritize safety. Further updates will be shared as conditions improve.
