The Lakeland School System is currently still hiring for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. According to recent posts on social media, the are openings in all areas of school operations including instruction, custodial, school nutrition, and coaching, as well as an Instructional Supervisor for grades 5-9.
Many positions have been filled over the summer, with the hiring of administration and faculty members for the new high school addition opening in August, but there are also opportunities at the elementary and middle school level.
Lakeland Elementary School (LES) houses grades K-4 and Lakeland Preparatory School (LPS) is home to grades 5-8 currently, with the addition of 9th grade this August. A new grade will be added every year until the school system is a complete K-12.
We reached out to LSS Superintendent Dr. Ted Horrell regarding the status of the high school addition. He said, “We are currently on schedule for for the facilities to be ready for the students to return to school on August 8th. We will also have the areas complete that we need to host in-service for teachers and staff starting on July 27th. We expect nearly all of the classroom spaces to be completely ready by that date as well so teachers can prepare their rooms.”
Dr. Horrell also stated that updated enrollment numbers will be available mid-July, as new student registrations are still coming in.
