Lakeland public works employees to be celebrated this month

Public Works Week is upcoming at City Hall with two competitions and a lunch for staff members this month.

National Public Works Week is May 19-25 and it will be celebrated in Lakeland to focus on City public works and wastewater staff members and their contributions to the City of Lakeland.

Emily Harrell, city engineer, said there will be a hot wings competition Monday (5.20.19) at City Hall with an Equipment Rodeo May 21st. The Department will also be treated to lunch at the IH Clubhouse.

The Rodeo features such competitions as using a mini-excavator for a pin drop; picking up a brick with the knuckleboom truck; and moving a tennis ball with a backhoe.
