Lakeland Preparatory School’s annual Festival Showcase concert series continues this week, bringing together students from the choir, band, and orchestra for two evenings of musical performances.

The showcase kicks off tonight with performances from 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students, while 9th, 10th, and 11th-grade musicians will take the stage on Thursday evening. The concerts will begin at 6:30 p.m. on both nights and are free to attend.

Under the leadership of music directors Tim Wise and Tate Hansen (Choir), Robyn Greene (Orchestra), and Brent Hopper and Micaiah Radcliffe (Band), the students will present a diverse selection of musical pieces spanning various genres and time periods.

Among the featured performances, the 7th and 8th Grade Mixed Choir will present Misericordias arranged by Jerry Estes, while the Mixed and Beginning Choirs will perform Elijah Rock by Roger Emerson. The Concert Orchestra will showcase Polovtsian Dances by Borodin, arranged by Samuel Geifer, as well as Ocean Storm (La Tempesta di Mare) by Vivaldi, arranged by Tom Fritz. The Concert Band will bring energy to the stage with Cumberland Cross by Carl Strommen and The Crown of Castile (Spanish March) by Vinson.

A brief intermission will be held during the performances, and attendees will have the opportunity to support the school’s arts programs by purchasing merchandise sold by Booster Clubs.

With Lakeland Prep’s middle school ensembles representing the largest group of students in the arts program, the Festival Showcase promises to be a dynamic and entertaining event. The community is invited to attend and support these talented young musicians as they share their hard work and passion for music.
