The Lakeland Preparatory School (LPS) Arts Department marked a significant achievement today as their students showcased their exceptional talents at the West TN Regional Art Center in Humboldt, TN. This prestigious exhibition, organized by the Tennessee Art Education Association (TAEA), features outstanding young artists from grades 6 through 12 across West Tennessee.
The TAEA exhibition allows each art teacher to submit 25 entries, from which the top pieces are selected for display. The event also includes awards for the best entries per grade level, as well as ‘best of’ honors in various categories. This year, Lakeland Prep had an impressive 21 pieces chosen for the exhibition, with several students earning special accolades.
Notable award winners from LPS include:
- Evan Scott – 1st and 3rd place
- Emma Ballou-Harris – 3rd place
- Savannah Miller – 4th place
- Scarlett Shepherd – Honorable Mention
In addition to the regional exhibition, the LPS Art Department also celebrated their best performance in the Scholastic Art Awards at the Brooks Museum. LPS art teacher, Jared Parham, commented, “We are so proud of our students in the LPS Art Department for their tremendous job this year in the Scholastic Art Awards. This year we earned the most awards we have ever had at LPS, and that just shows the tremendous talent and work of our students.”
The accomplishments of these young artists reflect the dedication and creativity fostered within the LPS Arts Department. As they continue to develop their skills, the future looks incredibly bright for these budding talents.
