Lakeland Preparatory School recently showcased its academic strength on a statewide stage, as two students earned top honors at the Tennessee TSA State Leadership Conference held in Chattanooga. The state wide event was held from April 9-12, 2026. The annual event brings together some of the state’s most talented students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
Prep student, Karim Balkis, claimed first place in the CAD Architecture competition, demonstrating outstanding precision and creativity in computer-aided design. The highly competitive category challenges students to apply real-world architectural concepts using advanced software, making Balkis’s achievement particularly notable among Tennessee’s top STEM students.
In addition, Savannah Meece earned second place in Photographic Technology, a discipline that blends artistic vision with technical expertise. Her work stood out for its strong composition, compelling storytelling, and skilled use of digital editing tools, highlighting the level of creativity required to succeed at the state level.
The Tennessee TSA State Leadership Conference serves as a premier gathering for student leaders, educators, and industry professionals, offering competitive events, leadership development opportunities, and career exploration in STEM-related fields.
Together, these accomplishments reflect the strength and diversity of Lakeland Prep’s academic programs, where students are encouraged to excel across both technical and creative disciplines. Continued success at competitions like TSA further reinforces the school’s reputation as a leading educational institution in West Tennessee.
