Travelers passing through Memphis International Airport this year will have the chance to see the creative talents of local students on full display. Beginning in May, artwork from the Lakeland Prep Visual Arts Department will be showcased in the airport’s main terminal as part of the annual “Arts in the Airport” competition.
Four high school students from Lakeland Prep — Aubrey Frye, Kai Le, Savannah Miller, and Zoey Yale — were selected as finalists in the prestigious competition. Their artwork features paintings inspired by iconic and historic symbols of Memphis, celebrating the city’s rich cultural heritage through visual storytelling.

As finalists, each student was invited to recreate their original design on a 30×40-inch canvas. These works will be on exhibit at the Memphis International Airport for an entire year and will also be available for purchase.
This opportunity not only highlights the exceptional talent of Lakeland Prep’s art students but also brings community pride to one of the city’s busiest public spaces. Congratulations to these young artists for earning this well-deserved recognition!
